5 Common Materials Used For Lanyards

Why is it important to know the different types of materials used in lanyards? Because each material has a different purpose. And to make good use of your purchase, it’s better to buy one with a suitable material for your needs.

So here are the most common materials that are used in making lanyards.

1. Bamboo

Bamboo fibers are not only eco-friendly, but they are also very comfortable.

These sustainable materials can also withstand wear and tear during bustling events. They are amazingly durable and can also resist bacteria.

2. Polyester

This material is the most commonly used in making lanyards.  It’s cheaper and you can have your lanyards customized with printed logos.

Polyester is also resistant to wrinkling and stains. That’s why these are also great options for bustling whole-day events.

There are a few types of polyester:

  • Polyester twill – This material has a texture similar to cotton, so they are also quite comfortable.  It’s also somewhat cheaper and can be customized at the same time. Logos can be heat stamped on the lanyard. But take note that it can only be suitable for short events since the stamp can wear off over time.
  • Tubular polyester – Tubular polyester is loosely winded polyester twill. This is more amenable to screen printing.

3. Cotton

Cotton is very comfortable and soft. And this is the most heat-resistant material. It’s the only type of material that can withstand full-color heat transfer printing. You may also be able to easily wash and iron cotton lanyards.

This is also another eco-friendly substitute aside from bamboo.

4. Nylon

Aside from polyester, nylon is also a popular go-to choice of many. It is very economical and the material feels smooth. This is also durable and can withstand wear and tear. That’s why this is a great choice for outside events where you can be exposed to the elements.

It’s also ideal if you have intricate logos or designs. The details of the logos will be able to come through this type of material.

5. Soft Satin

Satin comes in an array of colors. So this is perfect for those looking for more options. It is also durable and can be worn longer. Not to mention, it feels smooth and sleek.

It can also show off your intricate logos and can add a more posh look and feel. Satin is also lightweight and you’d barely feel you’re wearing one.
