Most lanyard necklaces would have a standard size of 36 inches. But it’s best to consider your height so that your ID, or whatever it is you have on the lanyard, falls too low on your belly or too high up on your chest.

How about the width?

Lanyards should not be too thin. Otherwise, the brand logo or name will not be visible. It should also not be too thick, or you might look like you have a rugged strap around your neck.

Lanyards often have 4 standard width sizes.

• 3/8” or 10 mm

•  5/8” or 16 mm

•  3/4” or 20 mm 

• 1” or 25 mm

1. Ensure that the lanyard has the standard measure of 36”.

2. The handing length should be equal to 18”.

3. The thickness of the lanyard should be around 1 mm

4. The lanyard hole size is about 0.75 mm

5. The name tag must have a width of 2.4”/60 mm and a length of 3.54’’/90 mm

What size of keychain lanyard to use?

Lanyards used for keychains are smaller and about 4 or 5 inches in length. But you may also extend the length a bit by adding a personal touch such as beads or a knot.
