Canon Solutions America And thINK Release New Generation Of Inkjet’s Designer Guide

The Designers Guide to a New Generation Inkjet  is now available from Canon Solutions America, Inc., which is Canon USA’s subsidiary, Inc., and thINK, an independent community of CSA production print customers. The guide is written by Elizabeth Gooding and Mary Schilling, both inkjet design experts.

For agency and in-house designers seeking to optimize their production work, the Designer’s Guide series’ 3rd edition offers relevant details. This project aims to educate readers about where inkjet fits in the broader print design ecosystem and how its distinct properties open up a variety of possibilities to make designs more colorful, flexible, and impactful. Besides, another goal is to assist designers in understanding and embracing the creative potential of the most recent generation of inkjet presses.

According to Schilling, “This version of the guide expands on available media, color capabilities and finishing, to highlight the latest inkjet capabilities. Since many designers are now familiar with the inkjet basics, we have elaborated on the best-practices design workflow for working with inkjet presses.”

The restructured guide is organized by design tasks and will direct readers on how to deliver results in print segments like direct mail, publishing, marketing communications, and customer care.

Gooding noted, “One major differentiator of inkjet production is cost-effective personalization and versioning. In the latest version, we have emphasized the project planning process and opportunities to drive value with designs that run exclusively on an inkjet press, or a combination of inkjet and other processes.”

The guide emphasizes the significance of design efficiency made possible by knowing the relationship between media, press, and the capabilities of the print provider given the increasing speed of the most recent inkjet presses.

In addition to various downloadable tools, readers will have access to helpful information regarding inks, color gamut values, finishing, image formats, media, inkjet design principles and best practices.

Francis McMahon, VP of Canon Solutions America’s Production Print Solutions, said, “It is our priority to educate our customers on the creative potential of the latest generation of inkjet presses. Canon’s inkjet presses have not only raised but redefined the bar for print quality and flexibility with media capabilities. Now it’s time to raise the bar on print design.”

He added, “Regardless of if you are new to inkjet or are a veteran inkjet user, we encourage you to explore the Designers Guide to a New Generation of Inkjet to learn more about how to create and deliver best-of-the-best designs for marketing communications and graphic arts projects.”
