Ever been to a trade show and found yourself lost in the flurry of booths and other attendees? Don’t worry, we’re here to help.
Below are some of our top tips for how you can prepare before going to a trade show.
1. Research who’s going to be there
The very first thing you should do is do some research on the attendee list. Knowing who will be there and how those attendees can help your business really sets your preparation up for success.
You can plan out which people you want to speak with and where they’re likely to be in the exhibition hall. Also, it’s always a good idea to stay updated with their latest events and news too.
2. Know what you want from the trade show
The second thing you should do is be clear about what you’re planning on getting from the trade show. What are the specific benefits that your company will get out of attending? What’s important for you?
Is it to meet new potential clients/suppliers/users? Is it about getting feedback on your new product or service that you’ll be releasing? Is it about learning more about trends in your industry or specific techniques? Or is it all of the above?
By knowing what you want to get out of the trade show, you can be much more focused on setting up your plan of attack and preparing for those objectives.
After that, you should immediately focus on making notes of all of these details and getting them down on a piece of paper. This way, when it comes time to plan your day throughout the show, it will be easy for everyone involved.
3. Look ahead to the day before the show
It is also a good idea to look ahead to the day before you leave for the tradeshow. What do you need to do in preparation? Are there any documents or paperwork you need to ensure you’ve got in order? This might include insurance, hiring contractors, or even arranging for some employees or workers not to come in on that day.
Pro Tip: Don’t forget to bring calling cards! They are a lifesaver when you need to talk to people and don’t have a business card.
